The Quadrofoil Q2A Electric is a two-seat electric hydrofoil craft built in Slovenia, measuring 3.53 metres long with a 2.59-metre beam and weighing 295 kg. It uses a 3.7 kW motor and a 5.2 kWh battery, and rides on Quadrofoil's C-shaped foil system. Both the Q2A and its Q2S sibling carry "in the process of conformity assessment" notices on the builder's own product pages, while the FAQ describes the Q2S as certified — the certification position should be verified before purchase.

What a buyer should know

A personal craft, not a boat

At 3.53 metres with two seats and no cabin, the Q2A Electric belongs in the same mental category as a jet ski: a machine for short, high-engagement outings on sheltered water. The foils are the whole proposition — once the hull lifts, drag falls away and a 3.7 kW motor becomes sufficient for genuine speed, which no 3.5-metre displacement hull could manage on that power.

What 5.2 kWh means

This is a small pack. Against a 3.7 kW motor it implies well over an hour at full draw and more at cruise, which is generous relative to the motor but still a short-session craft. Quadrofoil publishes no top speed, range or charging time in our record — three gaps a buyer should close before ordering, especially the charge time, which determines whether you get one run a day or several.

The certification caveat

This is the item to take seriously. The builder's own product pages say conformity assessment is in progress while the FAQ describes the sister model as certified. CE conformity affects insurability and legal use in EU waters. Ask Quadrofoil for the specific certificate and category covering the Q2A, in writing, before paying a deposit. The craft is distinctive and the foil concept is proven, but the paperwork should be confirmed rather than assumed.

Written from the builder’s published specifications and the wider market, not from testing the boat ourselves. Always confirm figures with the manufacturer before committing.
