The Silent 60 is the most coherent expression of the solar-catamaran argument in this batch: 18.3 m, twin motors totalling 400 kW, a 225 kWh bank, rooftop solar, CE Category A, and an optional diesel range extender, from €2.75m. It is the sibling to choose if your priority is long, self-sufficient passage-making with a small crew or an owner-operator couple.
The published 8-knot top speed is the figure buyers most often misread. It is a displacement number, and it tells you the boat is designed to move steadily on solar and stored energy rather than to plane. If you want to be somewhere quickly, this is the wrong hull; if you want to leave at dawn and arrive without having burned fuel, it is the right one. Against the larger Silent 80 Tri-Deck, the 60 gives up volume and speed headroom but costs roughly half.
Honest caveats
The range extender matters more than the marketing suggests: solar alone will not carry you through a run of grey days or a hard passage, so budget for diesel and its servicing. Silent Yachts has been through significant commercial change in recent years, so verify current build slots, delivery timescales and warranty terms directly with the yard rather than assuming continuity.
